At the June Meeting the Club awarded the Sportsmanship Award. It went to Norm Smit. This award is for service to the Club and Norm has done a lot for us. Norm helped set up the structure around the Star Fleet and the Black Star Regatta. He served as RC for the Fleet and is still involved with the Star Fleet. He has been Principle Race Officer for the Toliva Shoal Race for many years, including next year. Further he has served/is serving as Protest Chair for any and all protests that need a hearing. And, while not directly related to the Club activities, he has put in a lot of time supporting OYC’s Youth Sailing program.
