I am sure anyone that has read this newsletter has noticed the advertisement for Gudenuph Boat Works. This is no ordinary boat parts store. Gudenuph is George Hansen and his fine collection of tools. George is willing to help anyone, almost anytime, excepting golfing times, to make and/or repair parts for your boat. Sometimes he will help with other projects.
He has the most extensive collection of tools that I have ever seen. Not only does he have wood working tools, he also has metal working tools. In his shop resides a table saw, a planer, and a radial arm saw, as well as a lathe, a milling machine, grinders, band saws, several different types of welders and countless other useful tools.
Once I lost the pin and spring on a quick release shackle for my spinnaker halyard. The shackle was factory whipped onto the halyard. George made a new pin on his lathe and also made a new spring and fixed the shackle, better than new.
Another time, I needed a raised mount for my new auto tiller pilot. This is an aluminum post, which Navico sells for about $65. True to form, George made a much better one that works perfectly.
On other occasions, George has helped me make hinges for a table and support brackets for a pilot seat for Aguila.
These are just small examples of the capabilities of Gudenuph Boat Works.
It is the unselfish giving of help like this that makes SSSS the great society that it is. Gudenuph is more than just good enough it is great!!!
