Salty Sailor Cruise (Frye Cove) 19-21 Feb 2021
It’s time to bust out the “warmies”! because the Salty Sailor Cruise is going to be at Frye Cove this year. Not sure how nice the weather is supposed to be, but that is the whole point behind the cruise, right … to see who really wants it? I enjoy these austere, for lack of a better word, cruises because they are like camping on the water J. The Cove is very quiet and peaceful, so it’s the perfect opportunity to finish that book or just relax away from everything.
It’s only about 9 NM (one way) from Swantown down the Eld Inlet. The park was acquired in 1973 by Thurston County and named after George W. Frye who owned the property on the shore north of Flapjack Point.
You can enjoy the awesome views of Mt. Rainier and it has 1400 feet of saltwater beach off the Eld Inlet. The park has a 0.9 mile lightly trafficked loop trail that is good for all skill levels- perfect for hiking, walking, running … and it is pet-friendly. There are also restrooms, drinking water, picnic tables and shelters.
I will be there Friday night and monitoring Ch 68. I’ll also have beer from Alex Bromen and will have the Cruise Chair flag flying … so you can look for that. So you out there.
