Portsmouth Racing

Race to Somewhere August 19th
A combination of the Race to Alaska, only way easier, and the Duck Dodge, but a lot more fun!!!

We will have a start in our usual starting area around noon and will race out to Gull Harbor, to the beautiful little cove where George and Betty Hanson have a dock that we tie up to.

On the way out it is a straight drag race. First to finish wins the coveted R2SW first place trophy, second place gets complaining rights. There is a pleasant surprise for who ever comes in last. Goofy, strange, or weird and wonderful hats are very strongly encouraged and may get extra credit.

After we get to Gull Harbor we will partake of a great potluck. I will provide hamburgers and some fixin’s. You will provide something to go with hamburgers, maybe a salad, a dessert, etc. and your own drinks. After we stuff ourselves we’ll have the award ceremony.

A vehicle will be at the Swantown boat launch about 11:15 to help deliver any potluck and/or drink items should you need help and are so desperate to win that coveted R2SW Fist Place Trophy that you want to lighten your boat to the extreme … or just don’t have room and don’t want pink jello salad and beer all over the inside of your boat. UGH!

Around 16:00 or 17:00, when the good wind usually shows up, we will race back for a Portsmouth Handicapped finish near where we started.

If you have a boat and need a crew, let me know. I think I can find you crew. Some time before August 12, please let me know how many in your group will be at the potluck, so I know how many burgers we need to fry, and how many chairs.

I’ll be pestering you more about this later.
