Have you purchased a sailboat (or are thinking about it) and are not confident when docking? Are not sure how to bleed your fuel system? Change your impeller? Or, whether you or the fast-approaching powerboat has the right-of-way as you motor toward her?
If so, you might be interested in a course offered by the South Sound Sailing Society designed to assist new and newer sailboat owners in safely maintaining, operating, and enjoying the many benefits of having a sailboat.
Except for the two-day diesel maintenance class, there will not be a fee for the course, but participants must be current members of the South Sound Sailing Society or the Olympia Yacht Club.
A MAJOR component of the course will be to connect new owners with experienced skippers.
The course will include:
– Four in-person Monday evening sessions at the Olympia Yacht Club from 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm.
– Two on-the-water sessions with experienced skippers and the boat owners. One will focus on inspecting and getting to know the boat and the second one will practice docking, anchoring, and connecting to mooring balls.
– A two-day diesel maintenance class offered by Meredith Anderson.
We are also exploring ways to provide on-the-water sailing instruction.

– The in-person meetings at the Olympia Yacht Club on Mondays at 6:30 pm will be on:

– The on-the-water sessions with the experienced skippers and boat owners would be sometime between the dates below based on the schedules of the Boat Owner and Experienced Skipper:

– A two-day (Saturday/Sunday) Diesel Maintenance Class with Meredith Anderson at the Olympia Yacht Club on May 6-7 that will cost $175.
