Puget Sound, the San Juans, the Canadian Gulf Islands, and other destinations in British Columbia are a boater’s paradise. There are tranquil anchorages, snowcapped mountains, brisk winds, and in Desolation Sound north of Vancouver, warm waters perfect for swimming.
The May 9th South Sound Sailing Society meeting will include presentations by Jim Larsen, our SSSS Cruising Chair, and other SSSS members on fabulous cruising destinations, essential equipment and supplies for your trip, and words of advice from experienced skippers regarding crossing the Strait of Juan de Fuca, clearing Canadian and US Customs, and other lessons from previous trips. In addition, Marvin Young will share information about “Reciprocal Moorages” in which current SSSS members can get free or very low-cost moorage in dozens of places in Washington and British Columbia.
Meeting Details
The meeting will be in-person at the Olympia Yacht Club located at 201 Simmons St. NW.
Doors will open on Tuesday, May 9th at 6:30 pm and the meeting will begin at 7:00 pm. The meeting is open to both members and non-members, so invite your crew, dock mates, neighbors, and others who are interested in sailing.
Non-OYC members may park in the parking lot on the corner of Simmons and 4th Ave, which is to the east of the Bayview parking lot.
