Mary/Missy: Visited the board meeting regarding fundraising for soldier sailing. Last year they ran a bake sale at the general meetings and had a raffle for Alaffia products.
They ask for time to hold a raffle at two different meetings and a few minutes to talk about the raffles at the meetings
Board agreed that raffles could take place at the November and January meetings or another later meeting.

Treasurer: Contacted Three-tree Point Yacht Club regarding registering with the IRS and state Department of Revenue.

Asked board about having a volunteer run knot tying event at the general meeting. The board approved.
StS: Reminded the board to write articles with good grammar.
Race Chair: Got positive feedback for canceling Eagle Island race

Commodore: Raised issue of SSSS or Women’s Boating Seminar donating money to junior sailing. Toliva does provide some support to junior sailing. Board decided not to provide additional funding to junior sailing.

Treasurer: Last year SSSS had an income $700 more than expenses.
Discussion regarding 503(c)(7) status: Initial cost $850, need accounts for three years for application paper work. Minimal ongoing paper work. Donations not tax deductible. Will discuss further next in October.
Secretary: Handbook is being printed.
Cruise: Commodore’s Cruise to Vaughn Bay is coming up.
StS: Mary provided an StS article due date schedule to the board.
Steve reminded the board to keep the General Meeting at the front of the meeting room so members can better see and hear the speakers.
Past Commodore: proposed adding a Volunteer component to membership. Proposals will be provided at October or later meetings.
Commodore: Proposed a survey that will get information from the membership to help make decisions on the direction of the club and the use of the budget.
